Charter Books will welcome New York Times bestselling author Sarah MacLean for a special cocktail reception and book event on Sunday, July 14, 2025, from 4 to 6 p.m. at OceanCliff in Newport.
The event celebrates the release of MacLean’s latest novel, These Summer Storms, a sweeping story of romance and family intrigue set on a private island off the Rhode Island coast. The book will be officially released on July 8.
Guests will enjoy a conversation between MacLean and Kylie McCollough, founder of the Newport Ladies Book Club, followed by a Q&A session and a book signing.
Tickets are $75 and include admission to the reception, hors d’oeuvres provided by OceanCliff, and a signed copy of the book. A cash bar will be available, and guests may opt to dine at the on-site Safari Room restaurant after the event.
These Summer Storms explores the tensions within a wealthy New England family as they grapple with the aftermath of their patriarch’s death and a dramatic inheritance twist that tests loyalties.
MacLean is also the co-host of the popular podcast Fated Mates and an active member of the Authors Against Book Bans initiative.
