The City of Miramar will honor Juneteenth 2025 with a two-day event led by Vice Mayor Yvette Colbourne and featuring keynote speaker Dr. Eddie Glaude Jr., renowned scholar and New York Times bestselling author.
The celebrations begin Wednesday, June 18, with a Juneteenth Dinner & Awards Presentation at the Miramar Cultural Center Banquet Hall from 6 to 9 p.m. Dr. Glaude, a distinguished professor at Princeton University, will deliver the keynote address.
On Thursday, June 19, a family-friendly Juneteenth Community Gathering will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at City Hall Plaza, offering cultural performances, live entertainment, and activities for all ages.
Vice Mayor Colbourne emphasized the importance of the event, saying, “These events are more than a celebration—they are an affirmation of our shared history, achievements, and unity as a community.”
Dr. Glaude is a leading public intellectual specializing in African American history, religion, and democracy. He served as the inaugural chair of Princeton’s African American Studies department from 2015 to 2023.
