The Abbot Public Library Foundation invites the community to a special Summer Literary Reception on Sunday, July 6, from 4 to 6 p.m. The event will be held across the library’s Courtyard, Carten Gallery, and Event Center.
Attendees can look forward to an engaging afternoon celebrating literature, visual art, and storytelling. Light refreshments will be served, offering a chance for guests to mingle with fellow enthusiasts and support the Foundation’s mission to advance literacy, creativity, and community engagement.
Bestselling author Mary Alice Monroe will provide an exclusive reading from her forthcoming novel, Where the Rivers Merge, which explores themes of connection, resilience, and the natural environment. The first 30 guests will receive a complimentary signed copy of the book.
In addition to the reading, a silent art auction will feature original pieces by local artists Elaine Purdy, Ginny von Rueden, Caroline Wojtas, Acadia (Kay) Mezzofanti, Bob Hendricks, and Steve McClure. The artworks, inspired by the physicality of books—their texture, weight, and presence—will be displayed in the Carten Gallery starting June 2.
