The Seoul International Book Fair, South Korea’s largest literary event, opened Wednesday, showcasing more than 530 publishers, authors, and organizations from 17 countries.
This year’s theme, “A Pillar of Support,” encourages visitors to find strength amid challenging times.
Following last year’s Nobel Prize in Literature awarded to author Han Kang, public enthusiasm has soared, with all tickets already sold out.
Organizers expect around 150,000 attendees, including about 100 international and 430 Korean publishers.
Notable events include a talk by filmmaker Park Chan-wook and critic Shin Hyung-chul, as well as sessions featuring acclaimed authors such as Baek Hee-na and Kim Ae-ran.
Former President Moon Jae-in will visit the fair and deliver remarks at the Best Book in Korea Awards Ceremony.
The fair runs through Sunday.
